Our Story:

After we got married, in India, things got quite complex and we couldn’t plan a honeymoon. I wanted to make our first anniversary a big affair. In September 2017, My husband and I moved to Costa Rica. As soon as we got there I started planning and searching for the best honeymoon spot.

To my surprise, I found something that was beyond beautiful. Up to that moment, visiting a Hot Spring was only a dream which we decided to make a reality. Trust me, BEST DECISION EVER. To top all of this, it fitted our budget perfectly. We decided to spend the night at the Tabacon in the Honeymoon suite.

Once planning the trip was completed, it was time to hit the road.

We started off from Gauchipelin, Escazu, San Jose at 8:00 am. We stopped by the local grocery and picked up a few sandwiches for the way. It took a little bit to exit the mundane traffic of San Jose, but once we entered Alajuela Province, we were greeted by the sights and sounds of mother nature in all her glory.

From here on the road was like a calm river meandering its way through fog filled forests cutting through the mountainous terrain.

We reached the Tabacaon Resort by 12 noon, a good 2 hrs before check-in. We received a warm welcome accompanied by a fruit mocktail.

Seeing me bubbling with excitement, the concierge asked if we would like to go down to the hot springs while we waited for our room to be ready. “Would we ever!”, I bursted. We were shown the dressing rooms and were asked to meet them at the shuttle when we were ready.

After a quick 2-3 minute shuttle ride, we entered the Hot Springs area and, Oh lord, it was a sight to behold.

Collectables:

There is a souvenir shop near the hot spring entrance.

We lazed around the pool, for most of the afternoon.
After a few drinks and a quick bite to eat at the poolside bar, we made our way back to our rooms.

At the room, our baggage placed near the wardrobe and a complementary bottle of wine placed on the center table with wishes for our anniversary.

The room was very spacious, it had a king-size bed to the right of the room, a large sofa and a TV on the left. A balcony that overlooked the forest and a beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano. There was a dining table for 2 in the far left and a study table on the far right. The bathroom was equipped with a large Jacuzzi. All-in-all a very nice living space.

Dinner was at the very elegantly designed Los Tucanes Restaurant. The food was excellent, I had the Pancetta and my husband had the Angus Tenderloin.

We retired to our rooms at around 8:00 PM.

The next morning, we checked out and spent a few more hours in the hot springs, before heading out. We drove about a little more just admiring mother nature. After a quick bite at a restaurant in the nearby town we headed back.

We got back home around 9:00 PM, happy and refreshed. Pura Vida.
