A Pleasant Surprise!!! Marina Pez Vela, Quepos

Published by AmchePayn on

This beautiful location was discovered by accident. In November of 2017, just after we moved to Costa Rica, I started looking for things to do so that I can keep myself busy, while my husband did the 9×5 thing. Make-Up is one of my hobbies and I wanted to get better at it, so I started looking for a class. I found quite a few classes in-and-around Escazu, but unfortunately, they were all in Spanish (WIP). The only English class I found was at the Marina Pez Vela, Quepos, which I assumed was not too far away.

To my surprise, Quepos turned out to be a 3-hour drive from Escazu. There was no way I could travel that far every day. So, I called the instructor and asked for a 10-hour crash course. My perfect husband suggested that I go take the class the very next weekend, and he’d be happy to drive me there.

That weekend, we headed early as I had to be there by 10 am. All the way down to Quepos I was dying with guilt because I was unsure what my husband would do the entire day while I was in class. When we reached there, we were pleasantly surprised at the beauty the place had to offer.

Quepos is the gateway to Manuel Antonio National Park. It is one of the best places for big game sport fishing, in the world. In Quepos, we had to go to Marina Pez Vela Plaza. The plaza is lined with fine restaurants, art galleries, souvenir shops, and has a boat rental place.

We also saw a lot of Iguanas. These guys were big!

As the clock struck 10, I headed to class. I asked my husband what he was going to do. He replied, “Just go, I’ll be fine!”.  We met at 1pm for lunch at the Runaway Grill, were we had amazing seafood.

The best part of this place is the sunset and the Trimaran sail tours it offers. You can even rent your own fishing boat, it’s almost as easy as renting a car.

The Trimaran has a holding capacity of 40 people. It has two bedrooms, a kitchen and a toboggan.
